This blog is an exploration of political ideas. It’s the result of a frustration with political journalism and commentary which tends to concentrate on what a policy does for a politician’s popularity, rather than the likely effects of the policy. The aim here is to explore rather than propagandise.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that I don’t have any political views, merely that I think all political views should be subject to rational scrutiny.
Comments on the posts are welcomed but will be subject to moderation (principally to weed-out spam and abuse). Contrary opinions are welcomed, but will need to be substantiated.
All the posts are written by me (Stuart Ardern) unless there’s a clear indication to the contrary.
The blog title, Liberal Elite, is, of course, ironic. Every so often, a politician or commentator will disparage a nebulous, ill-defined source of views with which they disagree, blaming “the liberal media”, “the metropolitan elite” or some such. Usually such blame is a smoke-screen for avoiding rational scrutiny.
